- Power : His status as a god allows him to transform himself into multiple forms, most often than not that of a gaunt, pale man with long black hair and dark grey eyes. The names the humans have given this "ability" has been coined Great Old one, though it is not an ability at all, simply a transformation into his true form. He is faster and stronger than most humans if not bound by a contract. Any harm that comes to him will heal instantly, as he can only be destroyed from the inside, though he cannot be killed by any human means.
His "ability" also allows him to incite madness in others as well as peer into others minds and communicate with them telepathically while he sleeps. Others are compelled to serve and worship him if he so wills it. He can form contracts with others where he serves them, but they must give him a sizeable offering in return.

BIOGRAPHY

Lovecraft was once an infant god, worshipped in an ancient city now forgotten by time and drowned by the sea. He grew as mortals, humans and others, worshipped him, feeding upon their minds and their desires as well as their supple flesh. He would form contracts with them, taking and taking and taking as his followers wished for riches or the death of an enemy or for a bountiful harvest. His blessings were many as their sacrifices were many.As they aged, they found interest in humans, becoming enamored with their short, insignificant lives. A being such as Lovecraft was not supposed to, but he grew to care for the tiny humans that looked at them with such awe. They would even walk among them as a young teen boy, being praised for their pure, flawless skin and their dark hair, cascading over his shoulders like a waterfall. It wasn't until the towns leader, a cruel, vengeful man disliked the result of his contract with the still young Lovecraft. Despite being a god, they were unable to raise a hand to their worshippers as the town captured him in a fishing net and tortured him. People began to transform into hideous beasts, the began to starve, sickness left many dead if they hadn't already succumbed to the curse Lovecraft had laid upon them.His love of humans turned to distrust and he hid himself away, only leaving stories and a cursed town in his wake. Any who sought him out would, they'd make a contract with him or they come to him for a blessing, bringing with them gifts and offerings. Even the people of the town that still lived would eventually build shine upon an outcropping of rocks, an apology for what they had done to him. Outside of his nest in the sea, he barely knew about the goings on outside of the world. He'd leave on occasion, to see how the world progressed, but more often than not he would merely dream.They were unsure of the year, or the time, but a man visited them, Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald. Lovecraft was to work for him as his subordinate and accompany him and his Guild to the city of Yokohama in Japan to search for a reality altering book. They were to capture a young man, a weretiger, a guidepost to said book. Fitzgerald needed Lovecraft's aid to bolster his ranks as the city of Yokohama was dangerous.With the contract made, Lovecraft became part of the Guild, a group of American ability users to capture the weretiger and find the book hidden within the city. Lovecraft was partnered with a man named John Steinbeck, a man who's ability allowed him to grow grape vines from his body and connect them to surrounding foliage, feeling and "seeing" through vegetation. the first thing the pair was to do was to destroy two groups known as the Armed Detective Agency and the Port Mafia, who both kept the city in check. However, when a trap was laid for them and they knowingly took the bait, they clashed with the ADA and were arrested.A week later Lovecraft and Steinbeck were released from prison thanks to the status given to them by the Guild. Then Lovecraft met Q, a child that attempted, and subsequently failed to curse them using their ability. When Q was injured, their ability would activate, anyone that injured them would be connected to a doll they carried and when said doll was mutilated, the person would begin to hallucinate and attack anyone in sight. The Guild's plan was to tortue Q using Steinbeck ability until they broke and cursed most of Yokohama's population.Two ability users, one from the Mafia and one from the Agency showed up later that night. While Steinbeck was easily dispatched by the gravity manipulator, Lovecraft was able to stand on his own against them for a time. But something within the gravity user was unique and he was able to display immense strength rivaling Lovecraft's own. Somehow the other two ability users had placed a bomb within his body, and combined with the gravity user, Lovecraft was defeated.The remainder of their time on land in Yokohama was spent sleeping, right where they had been defeated, their body slowly regenerating after being to thoroughly exhausted. As they slept, the Guild was defeated and so their contract with Francis was complete and Lovecraft return to their home in the sea where they currently sleep.

After the defeat of the Guild, Lovecraft returned to the sea, making a nest in the waters surrounding Yokohama. He dreams as he waits for someone to ask for his aid or brings him an offering, rarely coming out of the water to observe the people of the city.Tag: 🐙𓂃𓂃𓂃 [verse: main]

Mermaid

Lovecraft is an ancient mermaid. Rather than a tail, he has long, dark green tentacles. His teeth are sharp and his eyes are big, dark, and similar to an octopus. GIlls line his neck and his body shines with an ever present mucus. His teeth and his nails are sharp, perfect for rending flesh, though he does not enjoy dining on humans, instead he prefers to hunt prey like great white sharks or whales. He was once thought to a protective spirit of a small fishing town, but after the humans captured him and gravely injured him, leaving him scared, he decided to remain mostly underwater. The only time he ever leaves is to retrieve the offerings left for him by the few citizens that see him as good luck.
